I was able to view the patents using
interneTIFF till yesterday. Now QuickTime is opening the
patent images.
Possible Reasons: -Recent Windows
Operating System Upgrade: Your system registry might have
been updated. You have to re-install interneTIFF
OR -QuickTime interference: STEP 1:The first thing to check is to open innoVUE
from your desktop and Select User Preferences
and Fix File associations and check the Status of the file
associations
.
 Anytime, the TIFF associations are
hijacked from interneTIFF and innoVUE, you can
re-associate them back using this screen. If the status is not OK,
then click on the Change Button.
STEP 2:QuickTime is interfering and taking over the
TIFF Format. You have to disable QuickTime TIFF Format.
Open QuickTime Player->Edit
Menu->Preferences->QuickTime Preferences. Select
Browser Plug-in from the PullDown Menu and Click MIME
Settings Button, Browse to Images and uncheck
TIFF. FireFox/Opera users: Locate your browser's
plug-in directory((C or D):\Program Files\Mozilla
Firefox\plugins ) and 1. Delete npq*.dll 2. Delete
QuickTimePlugin.class
You might
have to Re-install interneTIFF after disabling Quick Time
.
-
My local TIFF's are
associated with a different product before but I
associated them with innoVUE.ico What happens if I
un-install the product? The product saves all the information
from your registry when it's installed and puts back that
information when it's un-installed. For Ex: if your default image viewer
for a particular format is Photoshop, and you have
selected innoVUE to be your new default viewer for that
format. During uninstallation, interneTIFF will set
Photoshop back as your default viewer. However if you
installed some other image viewers after you installed
interneTIFF, those new image viewers will take over the
File associations and interneTIFF uninstallation program
will still put Photoshop as your default viewer when
uninstall interneTIFF .

The Status Message in the
TOOLBAR stays at "Requesting...." or "Connecting..." for a
long time?
Every page in the Patent is a LINK by itself.
If the Traffic at the USPTO site is heavy and/or your
internet connection is slow, it will take a while for the
requested link to be received. After a while, if the
connection is still busy, you will get a "TIME OUT"
Message. However, if you don't want to wait and kill the
link manually, you can Click the "STOP" button on your
ToolBar. If this happens during SAVEALL/PRINTALL, you
have the option of STOPPING the whole process or CONTINUE
with the remainder of the pages and SAVE/PRINT missing
pages later.
-
I bookmarked a Patent a while ago.
When I try to open it now, I get a "Time Out"
Error.? USPTO
generates the search results dynamically. So your
bookmarked URL may not be valid after a certain period.
You have to perform a new Search for the Patent.
- I am
getting a
"HTTP_STATUS_REQUEST_TIMEOUT"

supports the most common TIFF formats.
interneTIFF can also be used on any website
that has TIFF images and supports different flavors of
TIFF, including TIFF CCITT, TIFF CCITT Group 3, TIFF

How do I view the patent
pages that I just saved? Do I need another TIFF Viewer for
my local files? innoVUE is a stand-alone
Desktop application with complete set of imaging tools to
view/save/print your locally saved patents or images.
innoVUE is installed automatically during the installation
of interneTIFF-PRO. A shortcut of innoVUE is placed on the desktop
for easy access.
What is
the naming convention when saving ALL files from
uspto.gov? The default option is "Save ALL, Save
all pages in a Single File". The Single File is saved in
patentnumber.tif format. If you choose "Save each page as
Individual File" option, then pages are saved as patentnumber-pagenumber.tif
format. If you choose "Save by
Sections" option, then pages are saved as patentnumber-sectionname.tif
format(eg: 6457832-clm, 6457832.spe etc).
I
aborted the Save process. What happens to the saved TIFF
File? Only the pages saved prior to
aborting will be included in the file.
While
Saving from the USPTO site, the Status message jumped from
Saving 1 to Saving 4. What happened to pages 2 and
3? If your network connection is
fast, then there is very little time incurred between
saving the images and therefore the status messages are
updated rapidly and are not visible. The images, however
will be saved correctly.
Can I
Save the Entire Patent with a Single Click?
SAVE AND
SAVEALL(PRO
ONLY):
RANGE: You can save the entire document,
single page, or a range of pages or by sections. The default option is "Save ALL, Save
all pages in a Single File". The Single File is saved in
patentnumber.tif format. You can start Saving from any page in
the Patent. Once the Saving Operation completes, the
starting page is displayed back.
HINT: When you select Save Sections,
individual Section's page ranges are calculated and
displayed. This is a very useful feature if the patent has
unusually large number of pages. There is a possibility
that the connection might be lost during the save
process. You can conveniently save each section
separately.
STYLE: If you choose "Save each page as
Individual File" option, then all the images in the patent
are saved as individual files. If
you choose "Merge all patent pages to a Single File"
option, then all the images in the patent are merged and
saved as a Single Multi-Image File. Default: Merge all patent pages to a
Single File
FORMAT: You can choose to save the Patents in
TIFF, PDF or both Formats. To
Modify, Click on Modify Format Button, Select the Format
and Click Save Settings.

FOLDER: You can modify the Save Folder by
Clicking on Modify Save Folder, which will bring the
following Screen.
You can either browse to your new
Save Folder or Create a New Folder by typing it. The Default Save Folder is
C:\InterneTIFF and "Save Patents in a Separate Folder". Using this option, a new folder is
created under the Main Save Folder for each patent. If you do not want to save Patents in
a Separate directory, Uncheck this
Option.
What is
Direct-Save? DIRECT SAVE OPTIONS
:
Using Direct Save, the Save process
is faster and has no extra Dialog Boxes
Set the STYLE, FORMAT and
FOLDER and VIEW PATENTS of your Choice(or just choose the
defaults). Check the "SAVE DIRECT"
Option for Direct Save and Click Save Settings Save Range and Save Sections are not
available for Direct Save. Save commences as soon as the
Save Button is Selected from the
Toolbar.
AUTO
OPEN: What is the VIEW PATENTS
Option? You
have the option to let interneTIFF automatically open the
Patent that is just saved. Check
"Open Patent after Saving" and select the format to open
the Patent. If TIFF is selected,
the Patent is opened using innoVUE If PDF is selected, the Patent is
opened using a PDF reader, like Adobe.
Can I

PRINT AND
PRINT ALL(PRO
ONLY) :
You have 4 options to
Print the Patent: 1. ALL: Prints
all the pages in the Patent 2.
Range: You can choose only a range of Pages in a Patent to
Print. 3. Current Page: Prints
only the current Page that is displayed. 4. Print Patent Section: You can just
print the Section required. When you select this option,
you can choose from one of the 4 Sections. If any of the
sections is not present, it will be disabled.
When the last valid page is printed,
the print process automatically exits. While printing, the following Dialog
Box appears. It will indicate the progress of the current
page printing and also the name of the printer. Please do
not use the Browser back button during printing.
The user has the option of Canceling
the Print Job by clicking the Cancel Button in the
Printing Dialog Box. You can start
Printing starting from any page in the Patent. Once the
Print Operation completes, the starting page is displayed
back.
HINT: Each page has to be accessed twice,
once each for printing and saving from the USPTO Website.
Instead, you can save once, open the saved patent using
innoVUE and print from your local machine. This feature is helpful if: 1.For users with slower connections,
printing from the locally saved TIFF file is very
convenient and faster. 2. If the
document has large number of pages, you can save locally
and print at a later stage.
The
default Print Size is too small for me.How do I change the
Print Settings.?
Please
click the User Preferences Menu from the interneTIFF
Toolbar Select Print Options menu
option. There are a number of options that you can set to
match your printing preferences. Select the Save Options button to
start using your new settings.
PRINT and PREVIEW OPTIONS
 The product includes an advanced
Print function with a variety of user options.
Print Style:This allows the user
to choose a print style from 4 different options 1. Fit To Page: This is the default
option. Based on the image and Paper dimensions, the image
will be scaled according to the paper dimensions to fit in
the space between the current margins. 2. Specify Size: The user can specify
the Width and Height of the printed image and the plug-in
will scale the image accordingly. If the image dimensions
exceed the available paper dimensions the image is
automatically reduced to fit the page. 3. Printer DPI: The image will be
printed according to the printer resolution. The printed
output will not be the same as the screen output. The
image will be resized according to the printer DPI. For
Example, a 640 X 480 image will be printed at half the
size if the printer DPI is increased from 180 DPI to 360
DPI. 4. Image DPI: The image will
be printed according to the image dimensions, irrespective
of the Printer DPI. If the image size exceeds the paper
dimensions, the image will be scaled to fit on the page.
Margins: This will allow the user
to select the left, right, top and bottom margins of the
paper. The default margin values are set at 1" for all
four sides. The Minimum button
will automatically calculate the minimum margins for the
selected paper style. This option will give the maximum
available printed area on the paper. Alignment: This will allow the
user to control the position of the image on the paper.
The default alignments are Horizontal and Vertical Center.
Available options include Top-Left, Top-Center, Top-Right,
Center-Left , Center-Center, Center-Right, Bottom-Left,
Bottom-Center and Bottom-Right. Header and
Footer: This option will allow the user to print the
Header and Footer on the printed output. The information
includes the File, Image and Print Style information for
the Header and Date, Page Numbers for the Footer. Preview
Area: The Paper and Print Style selected is displayed
in this area. The minimum margins are displayed in gray
and the available paper in white. The image will be
dynamically repainted according to the selected options.
Print
Setup: This button will bring the Printer Settings
Dialog Box. The Paper Style and the Orientation can be
selected here and the Preview Area is redrawn accordingly.
Default: This option will reset
all the values to its original installed state. Save
Settings: The Options Selected will be saved and
maintained throughout, until the user changes any of the
options at a later time.
NEW IN 10.0 PRINT PLUS SAVE: Select this option to PRINT and SAVE
the Patent at the same time with a Single Click. If you want to view the entire saved
patent after Saving and Printing, Check "Open Patent with
innoVUE".
PRINT DIRECT: Select this option if you want to
Print Direct from the Toolbar without additional dialog
Boxes.
What is
PRINT PLUS SAVE?
We have introduced
the new PRINT PLUS SAVE Option in Version 10.0. Using this Option, every time you
Print a Patent, it is also saved simultaneously. So, instead of
selecting Print Option once to print and then the Save
Option to Save, we have combined these two operations into
a Single Click PRINT PLUS SAVE.
If you also
choose "Open Patent with innoVUE after Printing and
Saving", interneTIFF now simplifies the whole entire
Print/Save/View process with just a Single click. The Patent will be Printed, while
Saving at the same time and then the entire Patent is
opened using innoVUE. You can set
this option from USER PREFERENCES->PRINT Options .
What is
PRINT DIRECT?
The Standard procedure to Print is to
Click the Print Button from interneTIFF Toolbar, which
will bring up Print Dialog Box. You then select the
appropriate settings and then Click the PRINT Button. Using the new PRINT DIRECT Option,
printing commences as soon as the Print Button is Clicked
from the interneTIFF Toolbar. PRINT DIRECT Option Prints ALL Pages
in the Patent(PRO) or the Current Page(FREE). Print by Range or Print by Sections
is not available using PRINT DIRECT.
What is
interneTIFF's Dynamic
Display? For Internet Explorer Users ONLY.
and OPERA USERS. Dynamic Display-IE Browsers
: By
default, USPTO displays the patent image at a reduced
resolution. Even if you have your desktop screen size
width at 2048, the image will still be displayed at a
width of 570. interneTIFF
dynamically adjusts this display based on your desktop
size . If your desktop size is larger, then the image is
displayedaccordingly, maintaining the Aspect
Ratio. Compare FIG-1 and FIG-2
FIG 1: This is how interneTIFF
displays a Patent Page, without the dynamic display
feature. interneTIFF displays using the standard USPTO

your desktop size and settings, the image is magnified and
displayed to fit the whole screen. You can also use View after Download

What is the USPTO
HitCount.? According to USPTO, Individuals,
companies, IP addresses, or blocks of IP addresses who, in
effect, deny service to the general public by generating
unusually high numbers (1000 or more) of daily database
accesses (searches, pages, or hits), whether generated
manually or in an automated fashion, may be denied access
to these servers without notice. The USPTO HitCount gives you the
number of times you have accessed USPTO using
interneTIFF. DO NOT rely in this
number as USPTO might change the definition of a hit when
you access it's site. THIS IS TO
BE USED ONLY AS A ROUGH ESTIMATE. The User is ultimately
responsible for USPTO usage limits. RESET the count on a daily basis to
have an estimate of the Hits per Day. When the HitCount reaches 1000, it
will be reset back to 1 automatically.
